Deep Woods

Ruins

The Deep Woods is a location in Fear & Hunger 2: Termina. This area contains a variety of old ruins and an abundance of vegetation.

Lore

The Deep Woods comprise the most isolated parts of the forests south of Prehevil. Strange people lurk within the shadows, many of them praying to mysterious, long-forgotten gods.

The Eastern Union used the Deep Woods’ isolation to build Bunker 1, one of the tunnel systems used in the Logic project. The presence of a yellow tent shows the Bremen Empire likely found the bunker, though they have abandoned it by the events of the game.

Location

This location can be reached through the ruined streets from the west of Prehevil’s Inner City. Alternatively, it can also be reached from the north-west outskirt of Prehevil right next to the train location, if the player has the Skin Bible — Vinushka then its possible to use his sigil from the destroyed cabin in the Maiden Forest, creating a spiritual tree to climb through the cliffs and enter the woods from the south entrance. This can be used to enter Prehevil without obtaining both keys to the Old Town gate.

Gameplay

Deep Woods contains flourishing vegetation, meaning players can find an abundance of herbs and mushrooms. However, many dangers lurk within the area: owl cultists hide within the leaves (shooting poisonous darts at anyone nearby) and camouflaged spike pits are hidden within the leaves. Stepping on one of the spike pits will result in instant death, so they must be avoided by observing the patterns on the orange foliage.

Players can find an hidden spot area in the woods, which consist a empty deep hole while also being worshiped by masked figures. Falling into this hole will cause an immediate game over.

If the player manages to reach through the outskirt from the south, they can interact with a ladder to build an shortcut connecting to the Maiden Forest.

Above one of the patches of orange foliage to the southwest, there is a narrow space between the trees which players can use to travel to the Deepest Woods, where Bunker 1 is. The area is guarded by a Centaur, a dangerous enemy which can easily kill an unsuspecting party.

        • Abella: «Well in a way we do change colour if you think about it. «
        • Abella: «it’s our own personal autumn when our hair starts to fade and fall.»

          • Karin: «I was expecting this forest to be dead and silent like the rest of this wicked area. Instead. Something feels even too lively down here.»

            • Olivia: «Right! Don’t you just love it!»

            • Karin: «It’s unsettling to say the least. I feel like there is something constantly moving in the woods! Just slightly out of our view. «

            • Karin: «Are you guys feeling the same? Maybe it’s just paranoia, but I feel like there is something constantly moving in the woods. Just slightly out of our view. «

              • Marina: «This place is called ‘The Maiden Woods’.»

              • Marina: «Yup, you probably guessed it. They used to sacrifice temple maidens here to appease the gods.»

                • Abella: «I’ve always viewed forests as places where I could relax and take a deep breath. But not here.»

                    • Abella: «I really wish I could see it your way. Believe me. But this place just sends chills down my spine.»
                    • Olivia: «You’re just not used to it, that’s all. Nothing in nature is downright malicious.»
                    • Olivia: «It’s usually just us, the humans, that have grown out of the harmony and thus got difficulties in coming back here.»
