Description
disappearing trees
What is your game version?
1.9.3 — F1
What expansions do you have installed?
Please explain your issue is in as much detail as possible.
when zooming out the camera, trees disappears. I need to be really close to the ground to see the trees.
-this happens every time I start the new map.
-Reloading the map does not help.
I’m using 3 mods
— Less steam http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=812107110&searchtext=less+steam
— 81 tiles http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=576327847&searchtext=81+tiles
— Loading screen mod http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=667342976&searchtext=loading+screen+mod
Can you replicate the issue? If yes, please explain how you did it.
-mod 81 tiles helps to solve this problem when all regions are unlocked for free (but problem happens even without mod)

This doesn’t sound like a bug so much as it is actually a function of the game engine called LOD, aka Level of Detail.
What LOD does is allow complex models such as trees, for example, to have full detail up close, but as you zoom out or move away, the object loses detail and eventually disappears from the scene. The purpose of this is to save RAM for the program to use for other features. Some game engines will start «culling» objects sooner, however, if the system is short on resources in order to prevent crashing and to keep the performance up to a reasonable level. LOD is used for performance reasons. Think about this. Is it necessary to draw complex objects in full detail if they are only a pixel in size? If you have a gazillion trees in an area, each and every tree will have to be drawn with every polygon and full texture. What this will do is cause the whole program to screech to a halt and become a poorly performing slideshow so to prevent that culling and LOD will start to work at certain distances and levels away from the full object.

In part you can’t because of two things:
1) It’s part of how the game works — in fact how all 3d games work.
2) For better culling for the objects, it’s up to the content creator to have worked out different LOD target swapping — this is also dependent upon the game engine (point 1) and the specifications within the game.
What I mean by LOD target swapping is the content creator has to work out a ratio of what distance the objects will reduce to a lower resolution object then disappear without being too obvious. A good example are those trees. If you were to look a tree head on up close, in full detail, you’ll see every branch. If the content creator set the swap to be 100 meters, your tree will drop down in detail (Level of Detail) to something less — fewer branches and details are replaced with bitmap images. Then you move out farther from that tree, and it’s reduced to a smaller less detailed object, then finally at it’s nearly farthest point it’s reduced to a small flat object with an image of the tree on it before it disappears.
Without doing this, your game will become a slideshow and your computer would probably crash as it attempts to draw every object at full detail at any distance from the origin. The lack of LOD is big cause of poor performance in games such as Cities. If a content creator doesn’t bother to put in LOD, the program will stutter terribly as it tries to draw the objects in full all the time.
There are other issues too which can lead to culling (removing) of objects sooner than wanted. This can be related to the video card, computer memory, the game engine its self which may have some drawing limits and object culling built in in order to conserve memory as well as many other factors.

Whenever I load a saved game where I’ve made a garden or used a lot of bushes/trees, most of the time they disappear. Any advice?

Bumping this topic because I actually have this problem too.
I’m unsure if it’s between the «Tree Limiter Removal» mod or if there is another mod doing this.

Yes. I would assume that’s the main suspect.
I just downloaded the tree bunches by pdelmo so I’ll probably just use that instead.

have you tried removing it?
Or have you planted over the limit then removed it?

I figured out cause. The plants I placed were in the plot areas of buildings where, without an anarchy type mod, they couldn’t be placed. So I place them there and then the next time I load up the mod they disappear. This used to never happen. How do I combat this?

Was this ever solved? My ideas are, 1. Set prop anarchy to «on» on game loading in the mod settings, 2. dont use the «remove» setting with the unlimited trees mod.

My trees disappear after a few minutes, when I place them over an object like a planter. Does anyone know how to resolve this?
25 фев. 2019 в 14:18
I’m assuming you tried the above points?
You could get Prop It Up to replace the props; it’s sorta a half fix.

I had this problem, tried the listed options still had trees disappearing after loading save game, turns out the Vanilla Trees Remover mod was causing the problem so unticked all boxes in that mod and that fixed the problem

Can you make a new thread as so many things have changed, instead of hijacking an old thread which has different circumstances?
Instead of saying you have a problem, describe what you do, show us a screenshot, output log, and a mod list or even a save game.
We don’t have a magic wand to look into your words and figure out where the problem is!

Blue Roads, Flickering Props, Invisible Vehicles, Disappearing Trees / Buildings And Other Buggy Nonsense
PROBLEM SOLVED: This particular bug is caused by the Network Skins mod by Boformer. Disable that and your ferry lines should work just fine! Now we just need to wait for that lovely little mod to update.
If this doesn’t work for you, I apologize but there’s nothing more I can do. Try disabling Random Tree Rotation, if you have that installed and problems persist.
It seems that whenever I place Ferry paths from the water-based transportation tab, a graphical glitch occurs, making all trees and sometimes buildings pop out of existence if I zoom in too close. I’d imagine it has something to do with LOD models, perhaps?
Is anyone else experiencing this weird little bug?
Edit: It’s worse than I previously thought. I’ve got blue sections of road, flickering props like streetlights, and all vehicles are invisible. At least that makes it easier to find posts about.
Edit 2: Quitting to desktop and reloading the game fixes the problem until I move the camera. Then the same problems take effect once again. Based on a few old forum posts, I tried disabling Random Tree Rotation, to no effect. Anybody have any ideas?
Edit 3: Disabled all of my mods, and the problem actually got worse. The game was incredibly laggy, and I could see vehicles again, but nothing else.

Hello, I got this problem with the game. Roads and train tracks placement doesn’t remove the trees. I couldn’t figure out what was the problem. I got a lot of mods and assets, more than 1200 subscriptions in the workshop and I won’t try disabling mods one by one, specially because takes me between 10 and 15 mins to load a game. Anyone else had this problem?

I have prop anarchy but I’m not sure if that is the problem, I don’t use automatic enable. The problem started yesterday, I loaded the game and all the trees re appeared in the map, the trees that was removed when I placed the roads in previous game sessions. I deleted all those in the middle of the roads, but now when I want to create a road or a train track doesn’t remove the trees, so I have to do it manually after or before the road placement.

I had the exact same problem some days ago. Unsubscribing the prop and tree anarchy mod and restarting the game fixed it for me. After that you should be able to subscribe to the mod again without having any issues
