Origins [ ]
It is based on the plant in Plants vs. Zombies 2 with the same name and similar ability.
Its description refers to the fact that on some mirrors on cars, it says «Objects may appear closer than shown/Objects in mirror are closer than they appear.» It is also a reference to how Magnifying Grass is both appearance-wise and name-wise based on a magnifying glass, which also causes objects seen through it to appear closer than they are.

Strategies [ ]
With [ ]
Magnifying Grass is a very devastating plant if you make lots of sun every turn. Use this to destroy zombies that you can’t take care of with tricks, because it will be destroyed after fighting one, excluding Cat Lady in some situations. Using this with sun-producing cards like Sunflower, Twin Sunflower, and Metal Petal Sunflower is also a good strategy. But while this plant’s potential strength increases more as you fight longer, don’t hold onto it for too long, as the strength bonus eventually becomes unnecessary even in the late game.
Each Solar hero has their own effective way of using Magnifying Grass:
- Solar Flare can play Sunburn to make sun faster or remove zombies fronting it with damaging cards.
- Wall-Knight can protect it with Team-Up plants or boost its health with cards such as Photosynthesizer.
- Rose can Freeze or Bounce zombies to let Magnifying Grass hit your opponent or to prevent it from being destroyed. She can also use Brainana to prevent tricks from destroying it.
- Chompzilla can also boost its health with cards such as Fertilize, as well as make it do bonus attacks with Plant Food or Espresso Fiesta and boost Potted Powerhouse when it is played. Onion Rings also works extremely well with this, since it will raise Magnifying Grass’ base stats to 4 /4 , making it tougher and have more strength than the amount of sun you made on the turn it is played.
Against [ ]
This plant can dish out a lot of damage to anything it attacks, and since plants play after zombies play, your opponent will probably play it on an empty lane. Therefore, if your opponent plays this when lots of sun have been made, you may lose quite easily. Thankfully, due to its pitiful health, any offensive zombie can destroy Magnifying Grass in one attack and block its attack. However, that zombie is most likely going to be destroyed unless it did a bonus attack or if it can’t be hurt. Also, if it is protected by a Team-Up plant, Magnifying Grass can destroy the zombie unharmed. Due to this, it is recommended to use tricks or certain zombies instead. If it is played after turn 3, Rocket Science is guaranteed to destroy it. Bungee Plumber, Nibble, Cut Down to Size, and Electrobolt are also cheap, yet effective choices. As for zombies, Conga Zombie and Pied Piper are able to destroy this plant for cheap unless Magnifying Grass’ health has been boosted.

Trivia [ ]
- Its ability, health, and appearance make it a literal «glass cannon,» a term used namely in RPGs or strategy games, meaning a strong unit that can be defeated easily due to its low health.
- Prior to update 1.2.11, Magnifying Grass did not activate its ability if it was made by Seedling or Petal-Morphosis’ ability.

Magnifying Grass
Magnifying Grass is a recurring character within the Plants vs. Zombies franchise. Magnifying Grass attacks zombies by firing projectiles powered by sun, benefiting from the player have lots of sun.
As of Plants vs. Zombies 3, Magnifying Grass has appeared in three games.
Contents
Origins [ ]
She is based on Poaceae, the large and nearly ubiquitous family of flowering plants known as grasses. Her name is a portmanteau of «magnifying glass,» a convex lens used to produce a magnified image of an object, and «grass,» the type of plant this is based on.
History [ ]
Plants vs. Zombies 2 [ ]
Main article: Magnifying Grass (PvZ2)
Magnifying Grass first appears in Plants vs. Zombies 2, unlocked after beating Day 17 of Far Future. While she only costs 50 sun to plant, her ability also cost 50 sun to activate. Once tapped, she will use 50 of the player’s sun and fire a rainbow bolt, dealing 550 damage. This sun cost can be avoided by planting a Shine Vine on top, but she will fire it whenever Shine Vine is going to make sun, meaning this free shot can be completely wasted.
She is a member of the Fila-mint family, who simply raises her damage by 800 when he is on the lawn while her Plant Food effect has her fire a rainbow beam that burns zombies in its wake one at a time. While this beam’s base damage is weaker than a normal attack, it costs no sun and will last longer the more sun producing plants (other than Sun Bean or Toadstool) are on the lawn, at first lasting 3.5 seconds.
She has an achievement based on her, Grass Effect, which requires 500 sun to be fired out of Magnifying Grasses during a level.
Plants vs. Zombies: All Stars (China only) (Archived content) [ ]
Main article: Electric Grass line
Magnifying Grass’ next appearance was in the Chinese-exclusive turn-based game Plants vs. Zombies: All Stars as the second plant in the Electric Grass line, who evolved from Lightning Reed and evolved into Thunder God Grass. Her line specialized in stunning large groups of enemies and unlike her mainline appearance, she attacked using lightning.
Her active ability was Discharge! which dealt damage to the closest enemy and any enemy in a plus shape around the initial target while her passive ability was Electroshock, which gave Discharge! a 20% chance to paralyze hit enemies, which made the enemy unable to act for 2 turns.
Her soulmates were members of the Watermelon line for a boost to his critical hit chance or members of either the Flytrap line or members of the Charm line and Dragon lines together for a damage boost.
Plants vs. Zombies Heroes [ ]
Main article: Magnifying Grass (PvZH)
Magnifying Grass’ latest appearance is in the turn-based mobile card game Plants vs. Zombies Heroes as a Premium Rare in the Solar class. She costs 3 and initially has 1 .
Her ability sets her attack to how much sun the plant hero has that turn, meaning on the first turn she can be played, she will always have 3 . However, as a side effect of this ability, if a Seedling transforms into her, she will have no strength at all, since Seedling transforms inbetween turns where no sun has been given.

Trivia [ ]
- Along with Power Lily, she was intended to be in Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2 but was scrapped. Her ability seemingly was going to be lowering the attack of zombies around her, but unfinished code has her use the Heal Beam if loaded in.
- She was first shown off in Plants vs. Zombies: Official Guide to Protecting Your Brains, and files were discovered in the game’s coding. However, she was confirmed once by an image revealed by EA showing the Far Future seed packet.
- In that book, she is referred to as male, although in game, she is referred to as female.
- In Plants vs. Zombies: Bully For You, Crazy Dave creates a Magnifying Grass that, if looked through, allows the player to see objects from very far away (such as a space station).

Увеличительная трава (Magnifying Grass)
- Название: Magnifying Grass
- Появление:Далекое будущее (Far Future)
- Семейство: Электрическая мята (Fila-mint)
- Максимальный уровень: 10
- Уровни мастера: Есть
- RTID: magnifyinggrass
